Horror Poster

This is my horror film poster that i have completed today. I have used Photoshop to create this. Me and my group are then going to put our posters together to make a whole big one for our group. We then are going to use that poster for our horror film.

Short film horror script

This is my script that i have done for David. We then had to pick the best 6 scripts. Whoever script was chosen they will be the producer for it. We than will be put into groups. 

EXT.tent-night

A group of 6 Friends from college are in a tent having fun and the time of there lives. As time went by it was night time and they were preparing to go to sleep.

EXT.TENT-NIGHT-sleep scene

They put their tents up and was ready to go to sleep. They went inside their sleeping bag and went to sleep. Some of them were awake talking to each other, others were sleeping. As they were talking they heard a noise outside the tent.

I don't know, but lets keep quiet

O.S we hear branches break but it sounds getting closer and closer to them.

(Sophie talking)

"who's there"?, please leave us alone!"

Then they hear laughing and the boys came to the tent and scared them. They continued laughing at the girls and making fun of their reactions.

(Shaun talking)

"hahaha, the look on you girls faces is priceless"

(Jordan talking)

"yeah cant you girls take a prank" we knew it would be too easy to scare you guys.

(Elizabeth talking)

"well excuse me we didn't expect any idiots,  to come and scare us in the middle of night so of course were gonna be scared!"

(William talking)

"come on don't take it seriously, we were only just having a little banter with you guys"

(Lauren talking)

"OK whatever but its still not cool, you nearly gave us a heart attack, don't do it again."

(Jordan talking)

"OK fair enough we'll leave you guys alone, but can we build our own tent here with you guys."

(Elizabeth talking)

"yeah OK but, you guys tent has to stay far away from us, you immature freaks"

"OK cool"

EXT.TENT-NIGHT-the boys preparing tent/sleep

The boys find a spot to build their tent and they were preparing to go to sleep. They were just talking and joking around how they scared the girls.

"it was so funny how we scared them"

(Jordan talking)

"yeah we should of recorded their reactions, but anyway i'm tired now, lets go to sleep"

(William talking)

"yeah"

EXT.TENT-NIGHT-THE BOYS are sleeping and something happens to them

The boys fell asleep and as they were sleeping they heard noises.

(Shaun talking)

"hey bro stop making that noise, its creepy"

(Jordan talking)

"its not me, but i hear it to, what is that"

( William talking)

(William is waking up)

"guys stop making noise I'm so tired do you know what time it is"

(Shaun talking)

"don't you hear that noise, its coming from outside the tent"

(William talking)

"oh yeah i can hear it, lets go see what it is"

They come out of the tent and was looking around in the dark. One of the boys had a torch and switched it on and there it was a man standing there with the biggest grin lifting up a on chainsaw.

(Shaun talking)

"OH MY GOD!!" LETS GET OUT OF HERE!!!"

but it was to late the man had killed them with the chainsaw and walked off towards the girls tent.

EXT.TENT-NIGHT-the GRINNING man is near the girls tent-ending scene

the girls are sleeping but one of them wakes up hearing the chainsaw noise and is wondering whats going on outside the tent.

"hey guys,guys wake up i think somethings wrong"

"oh its properly those stupid boys again trying to prank us again, they just won't give it up"

(Sophie talking)

"yeah i bet you its them lets go see"

the girls go outside the tent and as they were walking out they saw the boys dead body right in front of them on the floor.

"OH GOD!!"

(Lauren talking)

"WHAT IS GOING ON!!!"

"I WANNA GO HOME NOW!!"

"WHAT HAPPENED, WHY DID THIS HAPPEN, I'M SO SCARED PLEASE GOD HELP ME!!"

the girls looked up and they see the grinning man standing right in front of them with a chainsaw and they were screaming their heads of and he attacked them.

Aperture

Aperture in photography is when the camera lens can be adjusted to control the amount of light it takes in when taking a picture or a video. The aperture is very important as it tells you how much light is the camera exposed to so you wont take very bright pictures. It has a sensor which says the degree of light and the sensor is very sensitive. It also increases the shutter speed in the camera.

This is a picture of me with the aperture quite low because i think this one, compared to the other two its the darkest effect. I also think it looks normal and the original camera shot like it almost doesn't have any aperture on.

This picture of me the aperture is up because it looks a bit faded and a bit brighter than the one above. Its taking in more light from the sun, which is why this picture looks brighter.

This final picture of me i think has the highest aperture because it looks the brightest. It looks very blurry and kinda out of focus compared to the other two because its taking in the most light as possible. 

This is a picture of my friend Lisa, and i think the aperture is very high here because it looks kinda out of focus, so there is a lot pf light coming in. 

This picture has the aperture a bit high because it does look a bit blurry, like she kinda moved during taking the shot.

This picture looks like the normal one to me as the aperture is low, so it looks like a normal photo shoot and the photo looks great.

Cutting Edge - Documentary

We watched this documentary and it was telling us how the directors edit their films and letting us know how important editing can be in movies. I have learned that editing is very effective in a film because its what makes the story in the film.

Camera Angles

 Extreme wide shot- This is used when you want to see the whole area of where your filming, so the audience can know the whole scene in detail.

Wide shot- This shot can show also kinda show the area but it does show the whole person. This shot is actually good when filming an action of the characters. This is also sometimes known as the long shot.

Medium shot- This shows the person from the waist up. This shot is very common in films when characters are talking to the camera or talking to a another person and this allows the audience to see hand gestures and motions.

Medium close ups- This one is shows the subject in more detail like, the persons emotions. This one is framed just below the shoulders to the top of the head.

Close ups- This shot, the camera has zoomed into your face or something for it to show a particular part of a subject. This is usually just the shot frame is just the head.

Extreme close ups- This one is very zoomed in and you get much greater detail of whats happening in the shot or film. This is usually shot on to the eyes together or the mouth.

One of these shots used in the short horror film and how is it helpful?

We will defiantly take into consideration of these camera shots as they are helpful and useful when making a film. I think the medium shot is perfect for our film because, theirs a part when we are gonna film in the kitchen and our actress aaingel can be clearly seen when shes doing her part. This shot is good because it allows the audience to see her hand gestures and motions because she is going to be moving her arms like when she picks up her cup. I also think the close up will help the film because that shot kinda creates tension and we want that for our film. We think the close up shot will be good when she pours in the wine or when she picks up the knife from the side of her bed. Also there's a part in our film where there's writing on the shower window and that will have extreme close up to make the audience scared and jumpy. A medium close up shot could be used when the monster appears in the scene.

These camera angles are very helpful to anyone who is making a film because it will prepare you and you will have an idea of what you want your film to look like or even what your film is about. I personally really like the medium shot because its the one that is most common in films and i like to see how the character is feeling and with this shot i can tell as you can see their hand gestures and motions.

Today we done our first assignment which was on, urban legends.

We were asked to download urban legends on your phone and to read the stories on it. I read one which was called the hairy monster and i was interested and inspired by making a script based on it. We also watched some short horror films so we can get an idea for our project. Our project is based on horror films so we were asked to be put in groups to perform a short horror film in 6 weeks time. We were also asked to go on this website called 'celtx' where there is loads of horror script writing. We can go on it if we ever feel stuck and need help on writing our own script so its like our guide line.

Today we were with Sally and she was teaching us the basics on a camera, learning the different functions of a camera like the aperture which is how much light is coming in when taking different shots. She gave us a task to be in pairs and for us to go outside and take three each pictures with different apertures. We then had to upload them on to gmail and use the photos we took for our homework.

Today, we were working on Photoshop with Martin. He was teaching us all the basics on Photoshop and how they are effective. He also taught us the short cuts into using Photoshop like 'Ctrl t' which is the short cut to resize a picture. He also gave us the opportunity to work on our horror film posters and were gonna use the skills we learnt on it.

On Friday we were put into groups of three and my group is me, Maria and Jamie. My group is following Jamie's story which is called 'A noise in the night' and we are going to prepare for it. We are doing the Pre-Production for it first. We have to go through the list of it and make sure we all do it together as a team. I have already made the timing plan for it and Jamie and Maria have made the story board. I am also going to make the poster for it. After we go through that list we have to do the production which is the actual shoot. After that we are going to do the post production which is editing the shoot and making sure the music is in the right place and the cut scenes. The special effects have to be good and if we have voice over it has to be in the right time.
